Did You Know? Alexander House Hotel

February 12, 2015| By:Five Star Alliance

The oldest part of the building that is now Alexander House Hotel dates back to the 17th Century, with a stone dating back to 1608 in the boundary wall.

The house is famed for its grandeur and connections to luminary poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, the Oxley family who had connections with the city of London and the former Governor of the Bank of England who purchased the estate in 1909. In 1984 the mansion was meticulously restored and re-named Alexander House.

In 2002 Utopia Leisure purchased Alexander House and an 18-month redecoration process transformed Alexander House into the elegant, stylish, luxury hotel it is today.
