Ice Skating in LA Made Possible Thanks to the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel

November 19, 2012
By: Oksana Balytsky

We love southern California (or SoCal as the locals call it), but we certainly miss partaking in winter holiday festivities when December rolls around. The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza seems to have understood our pain and has recently opened a 3,000 square foot ice rink! The rink is a hybrid version that utilizes non-refrigerated synthetic ice made from recyclable polymers on which regular ice skates work very well. Hopefully that means when we attempt to do an axel jump, the fall won’t be as cold or hard as on real ice. The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel has had a few other upgrades including installing an infinity pool and upgrading all of its cabanas.  We love how this hotel is setting itself apart from its neighboring properties, and we can't wait to see what other upgrades and installations it has up its sleeve.

Make reservations at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel and cross off ‘ice skate in shorts’ from your bucket list!

The Ritz Carlton Georgetown Tops Our List of Charming DC Hotels

November 16, 2012
By: Oksana Balytsky

The problem we run into with luxury hotels in Washington DC is that they’re usually on a busy street with a lot of traffic and chaos. We set out on a mission to find a luxury hotel in a downtown location that featured a quieter, more intimate feel, and we came back successful.

The Ritz Carlton Georgetown is located a block from M Street and the heart of the nightlife and shopping of Georgetown district. This beautiful hotel features 86 oversized guestrooms and suites as well as a Boutique Spa with a variety of massages, body treatments, and facials available. The hotel staff is attentive and engaged, and the spa staff is professional and all-around wonderful. For the disbelievers, I strongly recommend the hot stone massage at the Boutique Spa; you’ll leave feeling completely refreshed, renewed, and ready for anything that lies ahead.

The Ritz Carlton Georgetown is a family and pet friendly hotel. There are 9 rooms with 2 double beds, and the suites can accommodate rollaway beds very easily for an additional $40 per night. The Ritz puts on a weekly Lifestyle Series on Fridays, and December’s feature Kelly Jenkins from Capital Décor and Events coming to speak to guests and locals about transforming a space and decorating with style.

For folks looking for an intimate luxury hotel in the heart of Washington DC, we certainly give the Ritz Carlton Georgetown a big thumbs up!

Question: We would like to stay in a smaller hotel near the French Quarter in a suite with a king bed plus smaller bed or two rooms. Which hotel do you recommend?

Answer: We would recommend the W New Orleans French Quarter hotel. It has only 98 rooms and it's located in the heart of the French Quarter. Hurricane Sandy Hits Le Parker Meridien Hard

October 30, 2012
By: Oksana Balytsky

Le Parker Meridien New York was one of a number of hotels severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This hotel was one of the buildings in the area that had to be evacuated last night because of the crane that was hanging from the top of the Park Hyatt New York. Although there are a number of hotels in the area, Le Parker Meridien was the only one to get evacuated by the New York Police Department. The hotel is currently empty and is expected to remain that way for the rest of the day until all damages can be properly accessed.

Our hearts certainly go out to everyone affected and we are certainly happy and available to help our travelers find last minute arrangements around the world.

St. Regis Atlanta Gets Its Fifteen Minutes of Fame

October 29, 2012
By: Oksana Balytsky

Rumor has it that scenes from the upcoming film Flight starring Denzel Washington were filmed at the St. Regis Atlanta. The film comes out November 2nd, and we’ve heard nothing but raving reviews from this month’s New York Film Festival. Three scenes were filmed at the St. Regis Atlanta including one which was shot in the hotel’s wine room. The hotel even gets a quick shout out by Denzel Washington in the movie when he says ‘Meet me at the St. Regis.’ Just tell us when, Denzel, and we’ll be there in a heartbeat!

By: Oksana Balytsky

We at Five Star Alliance work tirelessly to ensure we bring you the best luxury hotels selection and information regarding amenities, location, and highlights so you are confident that the hotel you choose will exceed your expectations and serve your needs. Sometimes, however, you are left with a few questions that go unanswered, and that’s why we’re here. Be sure to explore our new blog series ‘Your Questions Answered’ to find answers to real questions submitted to us by our clients regarding traveling with kids, pets, the best beach hotels, and much more.

Question: We’d like to stay at the Miramonte Resort and Spa, but we’re traveling with a large group of 4 adults and 2 seven year old kids. We’d like to get 2 interconnecting rooms. What room types should we book?

Answer: The Estate room with 2 queen beds or the Luxury room with 2 queen beds can accommodate a family of 2 adults and 2 kids age 7 at no extra charge. The difference between the Estate and Luxury room type is that the Luxury room type has access to a patio or balcony while the Estate room does not. The Estate king can interconnect to a Luxury Queen or to an Estate Queen. Although these interconnecting room types are currently available, interconnecting rooms would not be guaranteed and based on availability which fluctuates frequently. To view rates, availability, and to make your reservations, simply visit this website and enter your dates of travel.

Rates and availability are subject to change depending on the hotel’s policies.
