Back in April 2010, the first Armani Hotel made its debut in Dubai, and then another one popped up in Milan. We hear the next city to get an Armani upgrade is Paris and that we should expect at least eight more hotels from this designer/hotelier. Spotlight On: The Dorchester London's Harlequin Suite

July 30, 2012
By: Five Star Alliance

The DorchesterThe largest of the three roof suites at London's The Dorchester, The Harlequin is made up of a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and dressing room, a dining room, a living room, a bar, and a large outside terrace overlooking Hyde Park. The rooms are arranged en filade with American walnut floors throughout, giving the suite an elegant, stately flow. The Dorchester

The living room has walls upholstered in ivory silk, chaises upholstered in buttery leather, emerald-parchment clad case pieces, and a bespoke wool and silk rug from The Rug Company, which was specially woven in Nepal. Two sets of French doors curtained in gold silk from Thailand lead onto the terrace and flood the room with natural light.

It was in this very room that Elizabeth Taylor received the news of her record-breakingmulti-million pound deal to star in the epic Cleopatra and the suite still glows with Hollywood glamour. The dining room seats eight and the walls are lined with a stunning silver wallpaper which reflects the light from the bespoke crystal chandelier by Metalarte, echoing the fabled diamond collection of Ms Taylor.

Emerald and apple-coloured drapes and Roman shades dress the master bedroom’s window. A master dressing room is lined in sycamore panels and has ample closet space with two walnut semainiers and an emerald shagreen-upholstered dressing table.

The DorchesterThe luxurious master bathroom features black Nero Marquina floors with under-floor heating, walls of book-matched white Arabescato Oro marble slabs, white onyx vanities, a large freestanding bath with polished chrome contemporary tap ware, and a state-of-the-art shower toilet by Geberit. The Harlequin Suite is available as a two-bedroom suite and the second bedroom still has the original pink marble bathroom that was installed for Elizabeth Taylor.

The suite is approximately 208 square meters, and nightly rates start at GBP 4,750.00.

Corinthia Hotel London Inner CourtyardThe Corinthia Hotel London, in Whitehall Place and just moments from Trafalgar Square, Westminster and Covent Garden, yet close to Mayfair and The City’s Square Mile, has opened its interior courtyard for the summer as a top spot for outdoor eating and drinking in London. The inner courtyard is ideal for Afternoon Tea al fresco and also boasts an impressive cigar list and best of all the courtyard features fireplaces at either end for when the evenings turn chilly.

From our sister publication Luxury Travel Advisor: "The Courtyard has a full cocktail list including the Bloom Clover Club made with chamomile tincture and raspberry purée, the exotic rum-based Planters Punch and the sophisticated Vesper Martini. Cigars and other liqueurs are also available.

The traditional British afternoon tea can be taken in the Courtyard. Guests can sample sweet treats created by pastry chef Claire Clark and sandwiches created by Executive Head Chef Garry Hollihead. Question: Best Luxury London Hotel for 3 Adults in Soho?

June 18, 2012
By: Five Star Alliance

Five Star Alliance's client service team recently received the following question from a client:

I'm traveling to London in July for 2 nights and looking for the best luxury hotel for 3 adults near Soho Square.  We would prefer to have a bedroom plus seating room with additional bed.

We did some research and this was our suggestion:

The Soho Hotel is situated in a quiet street between Dean and Wardour Streets in the heart of London's entertainment neighbourhood. Leafy Soho Square is a one minute walk and the city's business district is within easy reach.

One option would be the individually designed Deluxe Double Room (approx. 46sqm or 495sqf) which offers one king bed. The room is equipped with writing desk, a small sitting area, LCD television, DVD, high speed wireless internet access, modem and fax points, two line telephones with voice mail, personal electronic safe and a fully stocked mini bar. The bathrooms are luxuriously designed in granite, oak and glass with exclusive bath products by London perfumer Miller Harris all have separate showers and rooms on the fifth floor have private terrace. 1 rollaway allowed. Sleeps 3.

Soho Hotel Terrace SuiteThe Luxury Junior Suites (approx. 48sqm or 517sqf) & Deluxe Junior Suites (approx. 51sqm or 549sqf) offer one super king size bed and a separate sitting area with a sofa bed. The suite is equipped with writing desk, sitting area, LCD television, DVD, high speed wireless internet access, modem and fax points, two line telephones with voice mail, personal electronic safe and a fully stocked mini bar. The bathrooms are luxuriously designed in granite with separate walk-in shower, oak and glass with exclusive bath products by London perfumer Miller Harris. 1 rollaway allowed. Sleeps 3.

Spectacular and spacious, the 5th floor Soho Suite with 145sqm or 1561sqf offers a completely separate living room and bedroom. Each room has a private terrace with views over London. Large on-suite bathroom featuring a bath, separate double shower and flat screen TV set in the wall. There is a separate powder room as well. Sleeps 3.

Lastly, the Terrace Suite (pictured at right) on the fifth floor is 250sqm or 2691sqf and has a separate living room with bar and large bedroom. There are wrap around terraces with views stretching far and wide. The bathroom has an oversized walkin shower, large central bath and flat screen TV. The suite also connects to an adjoining Penthouse Suite. Sleeps 4.

It's Business Time: Claridges Best Business Hotel London

May 22, 2012
By: Christopher Roney

There's a very interesting split in the travel industry between business and leisure travelers. And if you're one of the business types, you know well that you're on the road constantly and the things that matter to you, travel convenience, efficiency, and connectivity, are almost the opposite of what a leisure traveler might want. If the word 'secluded' ever appeared in a hotel description, you'd cross it off the list immediately. So I'm here to use some adjectives you might appreciate hearing in describing some of the world's best business hotels. Today? London.

London is a very unique city when it comes to business travel. It has such an established infrastructure compared to some of the eastern centers of business and finance that hotels are in no short supply. Whereas somewhere like Hong Kong or Singapore has a much younger financial sector that was all fabricated at the same time, London is more distributed. It makes selecting great business hotels a little more depedent upon the needs of the individual than in other cities. For general purposes, Claridges is certainly one of the top business hotels in London. Rooms and suites are properly jacked into the information age, and an impressive ballroom can play host to large conferences and receptions, up to 400 people. A full-service business center will also make sure you have everything you need to put the finishing touches on your project. Meet with clients in the renowned Gordon Ramsay and unwind at the spa facilities within the Olympus Suite. If you need to be anywhere near Mayfair for your next business trip to London, check out Claridges.

A World Food Marathon at the Andaz Liverpool Street London

April 26, 2012
By: Oksana Balytsky

The Andaz Liverpool Street London is getting hyped and ready for the 2012 Olympics with a World Food Marathon! We can’t think of a better way to welcome fans from all over the world than with international dishes to give folks a taste of something new or a dish to make them feel welcome and right at home. From July 2nd to the 27th, each of Andaz’s restaurants will create a different international dish, drawing inspiration from the staff members’ native countries. The 26 phenomenal dishes will lead up to the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, and each staff member worked with the chef to ensure that the recipe was correctly recreated. A few dishes to look forward to include a spicy pork from Korea, golabki from Poland, and Mango Pavlova from Australia. If you plan to be in town for the Olympics, definitely add a visit to the Andaz Liverpool Street London hotel to the list of things to do for a unique and exciting culinary experience!
