The hotel's location and rooftop terrace, Top of the Hay, make it a popular destination for hosting events, including the Author Series, where attendees get up-close-experiences with prominent international authors.
But, perhaps one of the hotel's most well-known spots is located in the downstairs of the building. The Off the Record Bar is a favorite place for guests and politicos to grab a drink. Selected by Forbes as one of the “World’s Best Hotel Bars”, the bar features a bespoke atmosphere with caricatures of Washington's political elite, both past and present. Red velvet tufted booths provide a vintage-inspired atmosphere to relax, while enjoying a cocktail, glass of wine, or small plate and the setting is the ideal place to be seen, but not heard.

Here are three of our favorite experiences:
1. Landing on the resort's airstrip in a private chartered aircraft. No need to ask for directions, or find the taxi line, arriving steps from the resort in a private plane is the way to go. Plus, the view is pretty amazing.
2. Horseback riding along the Santa Maria trail to Rio Calientillo. Departing from the equestrian center, guests can schedule a unique adventure that includes a traditional Costa Rican farmer's meal wrapped in banana leaves, and served with aqua sapo.
3. Touring a coffee plantation. Learning about the sustainable planting and harvesting of organic coffee in one of the world's premiere coffee growing countries gives visitors a new appreciation for their morning cup of coffee. Continue reading below the photo.

10 miles from the strip, The Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa offers the ultimate high roller suite - the 180 Suite - spread over 7,500 square feet of space and with views of the Strip and the mountains. Read more below from our sister publication, Luxury Travel Advisor.
Guests will be staying in good company as the resort has hosted George Clooney, Pink and Cindy Crawford. The One-Eighty Suite has views of the Strip and the mountains. However, the suite may divert attention from the vistas with its sleek, luxurious design in a color scheme of black, rich browns and blues - very 21st-century. This top suite leaves us wanting to know what's around every corner and behind every door. Amenities at this luxury hideaway include a pool table, a 100-inch TV and a full bar (hello, Sin City).
The bathrooms in both master bedrooms are fitted with a walk-in shower and Jacuzzi tubs with fireplaces. The two bedrooms also come with private balconies. Outside, along with a stunning view of the mountains, guests will have a spa tub and a bar with a revolving sofa. With these digs, venturing over to the Strip may not be necessary.
Additional Tip: For the ultimate entrance, the hotel has luxury Cadillac Escalades and Cadillac Limos for private pick up from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.

A classic 1940's Art Deco retreat freshly transformed into a wildly bohemian South Beach boutique hotel, The Hall (formerly the Haddon Hall Hotel) is one block from Ocean Drive and across the street from the beach. Vintage and tropical design celebrates the Deco heritage of the building while incorporating a playful and casual beach vibe.
What we love:
- Hang like a Hemingway at the cocktail lounge, Holiday's.
- Surrounded by palm trees, chic cabanas and the South Beach sunshine, the Olympic-sized pool takes on a life of its own.
- Don't miss Campton Yard, the backyard garden under a banyan tree where you can wear board shorts and bikinis and hone your mad ping pong skills while getting social with the locals before heading out for a night on the town.
- Take the edge off with Spike Mendelsohn's surf shack inspired cuisine at Sunny's.

The very first W Sound Suite from W Hotels is available at the W Retreat & Spa Bali, in the vibrant Seminyak neighborhood. W Hotels plans to unveil additional sound studios in the W Hollywood, W Barcelona, and W Seattle, but for now, check out what the W Bali can exclusively offer:
Designed by New York-based Josh Held Design, the W Sound Suite is a private, soudproof recording studio and writing room available to both professional musicians and hotel guests. A private vocal booth overlooks the hotel's tropical garden.
W Sound Suite is the idea of Chicago-based producer DJ White Shadow, W's North American music director. The DJ affixed the large soundproof studio with sound equipment and helped determine its layout. The studio has locally sourced wooden furniture, hand-carved wooden blocks and handwoven rugs. Other touches include an oversized print of a 1980s boombox by artist Lyle Owerko and a photography print spanning the entire room.
Coca-Cola also contributed to the development of the studio, which has subtle touches of red, a chandelier made from melted Coke bottles and oversized wall text featuring lyrics from the 1970s "I'd like to teach the world to sing..." advertisement.

Situated on the banks of the River Thames in the famed Sea Containers building, Mondrian London uniquely offers river view balcony suites directly on the Thames. The following article was originally posted in our sister publication, Luxury Travel Advisor, and was written by Emily Goldfischer.
Beside the Thames and next to the Tate Modern on the Southbank is another relative newcomer, The Mondrian. We wrote about it when it opened at the end of 2014. The hotel has 25 River View Suites, worthy of mention with the Tate's highly anticipated expansion of 60 percent more gallery space on June 17, sure to draw art enthusiast to London. In the former Sea Containers headquarters with nautically inspired bespoke interiors by Brit-it-designer-of-the-moment Tom Dixon (think porthole curves, ship models and a dramatic lobby evoking the side of an ocean liner), suites at The Mondrian offer fabulous views of the Thames and City skyscrapers.
Top two options are the 1,200-square-foot River View Apartments (Nos. 445 and 545), which have a 12-seat dining area, a lounge and a separate king bedroom. Most-requested rooms are the 700-square-foot River View Balcony Suites. These open-plan L-shaped spaces have a dining area, pull-out sofa and a king bed. The best part? There is a private balcony with views of St. Paul's. Slightly smaller 635-square-foot River View Loft Suites have sleeping areas that can be closed off for more privacy but no balcony.
The hotel has really hit its stride; no matter when we visit, there is a palpable energy to the space. The riverside Sea Containers restaurant dishes up some of London's most delicious farm-to-table fare; the cocktail lounge, Dandelyan, hums with an arts-and-media crowd sipping herbally inspired drinks; and the spa is often cited as one of London’s best.

Buckland Manor, was first mentioned in 600 AD, when the land was owned by the Abbey of Gloucester. The village of Buckland is thought to have the oldest rectory in England, which stands next to the Manor, with an impressive timbered hall that dates from the 15th Century. John Wesley preached in the church of St. Michael, the east window of which contains 15th Century glass, judged by some to be the nicest in the Cotswolds and reputed to have come from Hailes Abbey at the Dissolution. William Morris attended church services here when he came to Buckland in the 19th Century and was so impressed by the glass that he personally paid for its releading.

Nestled amidst rugged snow capped peaks of the Southern Alps on the shores of Lake Wakatipu is New Zealand’s finest Lodge – Blanket Bay. In 1861, a mob of sheep owned by Mr William Gilbert Rees were sheared on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, in a bay just south of where the small town of Glenorchy is situated. This bay was to be named Blanket Bay after blankets used to create the shed and shelters used to protect the eight Maori shearers and the wool from the elements.
