What’s Hot: Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay, Oman

October 27, 2008| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay, OmanThe first hotel in the Middle East for Six Senses is visually stunning, with service to match. And talk about innovative modes of arrival: You can even arrive by paraglider, soaring over breathtaking fjords before landing on the beach next to the resort, modeled after an indigenous village. (Never fear--you'll be accompanied by a professional.) Situated on the northern Musandam Peninsula in the Sultanate of Oman, sandwiched between dramatic mountains and a sandy beach, the resort has been getting rave reviews since its opening in January. As Forbes recently described in "New Chicdom:"

There's no need to leave your cushy quarters: A chef is on call to cook dinner, a masseuse can knead you chez vous, and your butler (every villa has one) can serve as your go-between with the rest of the hotel. The only bit of the outside world that may intrude is one of the charming wild goats who saunter around the property with the air of having been there first.

The Six Senses Hideaway landed a spot on Conde Nast Traveler's 2008 Hot List, which praises the "exemplary service" and the beach where "colorful coral patches shelter sea turtles and stingrays, and impressive snorkeling and dive sites are a short kayak or dhow ride away." Another reason to love this place? Six Senses is all about minimizing environmental impact.
