It may not be the best time to open a luxury resort, but after 12 years of planning, the $480 million Terranea Resort has opened its doors on the oceanfront cliffs of Rancho Palos Verdes. To lure guests during this economic downturn, the resort is offering rooms for the low rate of $145 per night. With some 582 rooms, eight restaurants, three swimming pools, a spa, and 9-hole golf course, Terranea promises an unsurpassed luxury experience in a dramatic setting overlooking the Pacific. This place is so large-- sprawling over 102 acres-- that is can "host five weddings at once."
