Philanthropy at The Betsy Hotel: The John Lennon Tour Bus at Sleepless Night Miami

October 8, 2009| By:Mary Winston Nicklin

The Betsy HotelJust another reason we love the pretty Betsy Hotel in South Beach: They've appointed a Vice President for Philanthropy to lead the hotel's community-conscious efforts and philanthropic interests covering education, medical research, nonprofit sustainability, the arts, culture, and African Relief. Dr. Deborah Briggs will head up The Betsy's philanthropic team, representing the hotel as a community activist and charitable giver.

The Betsy HotelOne of the first projects: The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus At Sleepless Night-Miami. Parked on the beach in front of The Betsy from Saturday, November 7th to Wednesday, November 11th, this recording studio on wheels honors soldiers and their families. In the days prior to Sleepless Night, The Lennon Bus will visit schools, community centers, and private organizations to collect and archive creative materials for the project. Guests of all ages are encouraged to visit the Bus and bring images, letters, songs, and stories to record memories and archive personal photos using multi-media recording equipment. The culmination of these video recordings will be the red-carpet premiere of the documentary entitled, "Revisiting History: Honoring Soldiers and their Families," on November 11th at 4:00PM at The Betsy.
