London Restaurant Festival: Dine in the London Eye, Cuisine from Celebrity Chefs
July 6, 2010By: Mary Winston Nicklin
Tucking into dishes from Michelin-starred chefs while seated in a capsule in the London Eye (the famous 443-foot Ferris wheel on the Thames)? You'd be hard-pressed to find a cooler dining experience. The London Restaurant Festival is back, scheduled to run for two weeks in October (from the 4th through the 18th), and the London Eye Restaurant Capsule is perhaps the best part. For 11 nights, diners are welcomed to a four-course feast inside a capsule, transformed into a 10-seat dining room. For each rotation of the wheel, diners will complete one dinner course, for a total of four rotations. Each night presents a different celebrity chef, like Gordon Ramsay, Daniel Boulud, and Angela Hartnett. As reported by Bloomberg: "Each night is sold in advance to the highest bidder, with Ramsay’s proceeds going to the charity StreetSmart. Last year, Ramsay raised 23,000 pounds ($33,400)." Needless to say, these nights sell out quickly, so act fast to make your reservations! Related Hotels
