Dinner by Heston Blumenthal Opens in January at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, LondonReady for one of the most exciting restaurant openings this year? The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has announced the official opening date for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal: January 29, 2011. Reservation lines will be open on December 1, 2010 and you can bet they will be ringing off the hook. This new eatery from the Fat Duck chef marks the arrival in London of one of the UK's most celebrated chefs. (The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire has three Michelin stars and was a previous winner of the title of the S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in the World.) A word about the menu items: simple contemporary dishes will be inspired by Britain's historic gastronomic past and recipes dating as far back as the 16th century (like Scallops with Cucumber Ketchup and Peas, Bergamot cured Mackerel Salad and Slow Cooked Short Rib of Beef). The floor-to-ceiling glass walls will provide a glimpse inside the open kitchen, helmed by Ashley Palmer-Watts, who has worked with Blumenthal for 10 years at the Fat Duck Group.
