Celebrate 400 Years with “The City Different”

August 21, 2009| By:Alison Victor

Inn and Spa LorettoAnyone who has visited Santa Fe, New Mexico, knows that it is a unique city, very distinct in its architecture, cuisine, and overall aesthetic. This is in large part due to the different cultural groups that have shared the land for hundreds of years. Nicknamed "The City Different," Santa Fe is rich in Hispanic, Native American, European, and African influence, all cultures that played key roles in its development.

The year 2010 is a big one for this city, as it will commemorate 400 years since the Spanish established it as a "villa," also making it the oldest capital city in the United States. Santa Fe will be kicking off their Anniversary a little bit early, starting with a free, multicultural festival over Labor Day Weekend. This festival will kick off September 5th in Ft. Marcy Park, with exhibits, cooking expos, dance workshops, and musical performances to honor the diverse cultural heritage that has come to be Santa Fe. If experiencing this event sounds like the perfect getaway to you, Inn and Spa Loretto still has rooms available, with rates starting as low as 150 USD per person.
