Your Questions Answered: Where Should a Family Stay in New York City?

By: Five Star Alliance

The LowellWe at Five Star Alliance work tirelessly to ensure we bring you the best luxury hotels selection and information regarding amenities, location, and highlights so you are confident that the hotel you choose will exceed your expectations and serve your needs. Sometimes, however, you are left with a few questions that go unanswered, and that’s why we’re here. Be sure to explore our new blog series "Your Questions Answered" to find answers to real questions submitted to us by our clients regarding traveling with kids, pets, the best beach hotels, and much more.

QUESTION: We are a family of 3 and looking to stay is New York City near the Rockefeller Center. What hotel offers the best accommodations for our family?

ANSWER: The Lowell

Located on a quiet, tree-lined street off Madison Avenue, The Lowell is in the heart of New York's most exclusive and fashionable Upper East Side. With only 49 individually decorated suites and 23 deluxe rooms, the hotel lavishes its guests with truly personalized service and great attention to detail. Among the many thoughtful touches are complimentary beverages upon arrival, Fiji water at turndown, and a selection of Bulgari amenities. Most suites have wood-burning fireplaces, some have terraces, and almost all have fully equipped kitchens.

For your needs, we recommend a Junior Suite with a rollaway bed. This spacious suite (over 600 square feet) contains a comfortable sitting area with a sofa, coffee table, and oversized desk. The suites feature Crema Marfil & Breccia Rosia marble bathrooms with a deep soaking tub and a separate stall shower with flat screen televisions. The suite also has a recently refashioned granite-topped kitchenette. The suite can accommodate a complimentary rollaway bed.

Bees Get Busy at Waldorf Astoria New York

By: K. Clare Johnson

Waldorf Astoria New York

Waldorf Astoria New York is known for being one of Manhattan's most elegant Park Avenue hotels. But it's also one of the buzziest places in town, thanks to their rooftop bee colony. The hotel has 6 hives which have a total of 300,000 bees. The hives are located on a 20th floor terrace.

The bees at the Waldorf Astoria New York have been as busy as, well, bees this year! The luxury hotel is very proud to announce that they have gotten 207 pounds of honey from their first harvest alone. That far outpaces the 125 pounds collected from 3 harvests last year.

The bee-keeping idea can be credited to David Garcelone, the hotel's culinary director. The honey is incorporated into the menu at the hotels and there are plans to sell the honey to guests.
