Gaya Island Resort rests along the coast of Malohom Bay, a natural sanctuary nestled in the hillside of an ancient rainforest with a stunning outline of Mount Kinabalu on the horizon. The resort's architecture respects Sabahan elements; its 120 villas and two-bedroom suite use local materials and blend harmoniously with the natural environment . The resort is a haven for scuba divers, as the area is home to 75% of marine life species known to science. The coral reefs lie in shallow waters with little current making it an ideal location for novice divers but the diverse, and sometimes rare, marine creatures also make it an interesting dive location for experienced divers and underwater photographers.
There is a PADI 5* Dive Resort at Gaya Island Resort. Divers wanting to learn techniques for taking great underwater photos can now combine a scuba diving vacation and enhance their skills at the same time. The special course will take interested guests to suitable dive site in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP), which include Pulau Mamutik, Pulau Sapi and Pulau Gaya.
