LUXURY HOTEL INSIDER
Emily Morgan Hotel did not become the famed hotel it is today until 1984. Formerly, the building was the Medical Arts Building and later an office complex. The name originates from the famous story of a servant girl, Emily D. West, who wooed the Mexican General Santa Anna during the Battle of San Jacinto. Combining impressive architecture, a long history of tales from the Medical Arts Building, and the significance behind the name, The Emily Morgan Hotel is a landmark in the state of Texas. It was recognized by the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Alamo Plaza Historic District in 1977.
Since 1984, The Emily Morgan Hotel has proudly been providing upscale accommodations and services to guests. Travelers come from near and far to explore the building and admire its beautiful architecture. In December 2012, The Emily Morgan Hotel joined the DoubleTree by Hilton family and has been operating as a DoubleTree Hotel ever since.

Those who saw the award-winning movie Life of Pi (or read the book) will remember the legendary pool Piscine Molitor. The book and movie's hero was named Piscine Molitor, because his father wanted him to be as clean as the pool's water. Pi later shortened his name due to teasing at school. In addition to being featured in Life of Pi, Olympic gold medalist and future Tarzan actor, Johnny Weissmuller, was once a lifeguard at the pool. In a photoshoot held at the pool in 1946, the modern bikini was revealed for the first time. The pool also used to double as a skating rink in the winter. In 1989, the pool closed due to lack of funds, and the site became a magnet for graffiti artists.
After 25 years, the pool was recently reopened as part of the new Hotel Molitor Paris. With views of the summer pool, the 124 rooms at the 5-star MGallery hotel invite you to discover this wonderful location: enjoy relaxing in the spa, swim in the indoor pool, share a cocktail on the rooftop or savor the menu dreamt up by 2 generations of Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. Relax: you are at the Molitor.
