The Spa at Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI

March 7, 2006
By: Mary Winston Nicklin

Little Dix Bay

In possibly the most heavenly setting on earth, the Spa at Little Dix Bay is situated high above the Caribbean, caressed by sea breezes with stunning vistas of sea, sky and sand. The Spa's philosophy is of ecological balance with the environment; thus the individualized treatment cottages are designed to blend harmoniously into the oceanside cliffs, incorporating local design elements. Likewise, the treatments feature the ancient healing arts of the island's early indigenous populations, using organic herbs and oils. The Cliff Spa Suite is the ultimate hideaway, with luxurious private facilities for both indoor and open-air wet and dry treatments, couple's massage, and a whirlpool overlooking the Caribbean. The Spa menu is as divine as the exclusive resort of Little Dix Bay. Examples include the Salt Island Scrub, Spice and Coconut Body Bliss (using a blend of freshly shredded young coconut and local Caribbean spices), or the Lemongrass Spice Wrap (using hand-picked lemongrass from the resort’s gardens.)

New Winter Developments from Half Moon in Rose Hall Montego Bay, Jamaica

February 22, 2006
By: Editorial AdvisoryBoard

From Marcia McLaughlin, Public Relations Manager, Half Moon

Apart from the huge $2million dollar renovation of the Half Moon Golf Course (it is dubbed "one of the best walking courses in the Caribbean") which now boasts improved features for both the avid and casual golfer, Half Moon has two other winter developments.

#1. American Airlines now has non-stop service from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Montego Bay (cutting back even more on your excuses for not visiting).

American Airlines has launched its new non-stop service from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Montego Bay four times weekly; the service offers easy connections from the West Coast and feeder cities such as Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and more. This service now makes weekend getaways easier today than ever before and is just one of many ways vacation seekers across the globe can get to Montego Bay. More flight schedules to Montego Bay.

Half Moon Kids

#2. Anancy Children's Village - themed after Jamaica’s fabled children’s character Anancy the Spider.

Anancy Children's Village

Children visiting the resort will enjoy the charming new Anancy Children's Village. Borrowing from the witty spider made famous in Jamaican folklore, the new children's play area has been modeled around a village concept with buildings ablaze with a mosaic of brightly coloured hues guaranteed to enlighten the senses of young visitors. Find Out More.

The Anancy Children’s Village at Half Moon includes shaded play areas, activity rooms, a wading pool, sand box, expansive outdoor play area with each activity supervised by a well-trained coordinator.

A note to remember about Anancy's - they accept "only children that are fully potty trained aged 3 - 12. Families with children who are not potty trained can take advantage of our Nanny service and have nannies escort children to the Anancy Children’s Village."

Have kids older then 12? Don't worry, there is also plenty for older children too including tennis clinics, volleyball, nature walks, golf, squash, horseback riding and water sports galore.

What’s Happening Now and Ahead at Cambridge Beaches

February 9, 2006
By: Editorial AdvisoryBoard

From Michael Winfield, President & CEO, Cambridge Beaches Here is the inside scoop about this classic bermuda resort from the CEO ...

20 cottages were totally refurbished in 2005 and this winter Allspice, Sunset, Sunrise, Turtle Cove South and Turtle Cove Suite will all receive new bathrooms, new flooring, new furniture and new decor. 15 other unites will receive all new devor as well. We are planning to replace existing televisions with new flat screens. High Speed Internet access is now available in all cottages. We are waiting to hear from contractors, but I can tell you that we are very excited about creating a brand new experience at Cambridge Beaches. A multi-level pool with waterfalls and terraced seating areas overlooking Mangrove Bay is proposed. This will create an incredible atmosphere around the Main House, not only for recreation but also for another incredible dining experience. We hope construction will begin soon and plan to have this open by March. As I said, this is not confirmed quite yet, but stay tuned!
In addition to the message we received above from Mr. Winfield, we want to make sure that you know that this winter, after the success of the infinity pool at "North Rock", Cambridge Beaches will be renovating "Sunset" and "Bay Grapes" to become pool suites as well! Bliss on St Barts: A Winter Caribbean Retreat at Le Toiny

February 2, 2006
By: Mary Winston Nicklin

Le Toiny

All the paparazzi images of celebs frolicking in the surf has got me thinking about St. Barts. Ah the pangs of separation after a brief jaunt a year ago. If I could have it my way, and winter the entire long, insufferable, light-less winter at this Caribbean hotspot, life would be so grand. I think I would choose Le Toiny as my camp, earning top honors on Conde Nast's 2006 Gold List (93.3 overall isn't a half-bad score, considering the rooms, service and cuisine all score perfect points). The self-contained villa-suites, influenced by the old French plantation houses, are loaded with high-tech amenities: two satellite TVs, stereo, DVD player, Bang and Olufsen telephones, CD player and fax, and fully-equipped kitchenette. From your own private plunge pool, gaze over the hilltop at the rolling green of the island and the sea beyond. Or watch a DVD from your Jacuzzi, before dining at the most magnificent restaurant on the island, Le Gaïac.

Cambridge Beaches Year End Notes

February 1, 2006
By: Editorial AdvisoryBoard

From Michael Winfield, President & CEO, Cambridge Beaches Our friend Mr. Winfield recently sent us an update on the goings-on at his property in Bermuda. Here are a few of the more interesting 'Did You Know' facts:

- Bermuda's first and only private luxury pool suite opened at Cambridge Beaches in May. Guests love 'North Rock' with panoramic waterfront views and the new infinity pool. - Based on 'North Rock's success, two more pool suites are planned. - The previous five-night minimum from June-August changed to four nights. - Jacket and tie are no longer required in the restaurants. - There were the highest number of weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, couples and family visits in 2005 then ever before. - For the first time, family programs were in place not only at Christmas and Easter, but between May-August as well (this will continue throughout 2006). - Couples loved the private beach dinners for 2 and the romantic island interlude. These were SOLD OUT throughout the summer. The proposal/romance concierge (yes, there is one) was kept busy! - 98.2% of guests responding to comment cards said they plan to come back.
