Cap CanaThe latest high-profile development in the Dominican Republic is Cap Cana, with an apparent long-term investment of $1,500 million. A gargantuan project, Cap Cana covers 46 square miles of pristine beaches and stunning Caribbean coastline. In its initial phase, the project will have three 5-star hotels, three Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses, and an enormous, state-of-the-art marina. Billed as "The World's Next Great Destination" and "the most important tourism and real estate project in the Caribbean," Cap Cana will span more than 30,000 acres on the Dominican Republic's eastern tip. Trump is the latest real-estate tycoon to jump on the DR bandwagon. He recently announced a partnership agreement with Cap Cana to build a luxury resort which will include a golf course, golf villas and golf lots, estate lots, a beach club, a condo hotel, and residences with ocean views to be called Trump at Cap Cana.

The fast-growing luxury hospitality group has a portfolio with some of the most luxurious and iconic properties in the world: Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Madinat Jumeirah, and Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa in Dubai, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London, and the Jumeirah Essex House on Central Park South in New York. Ambitious new plans are in the works, including the first new luxury resort to be built in Bermuda in 35 years. Jumeirah Southlands Resort promises to shake things up in one of the most enduringly popular vacation destinations in the Americas. Scheduled to open in mid-2008 (pending the appropriate building permits, of course), the Jumeirah Southlands will be situated on 37 acres on Bermuda's South Shore. They're going for a contemporary, innovative style:

Seamlessly incorporated into nature by the extensive use of glass and seemingly endless vistas are a series of dramatically 21st century structures, stairways and open plazas that encompass the suites, ridge-top town houses overlooking the ocean, restaurants and other public areas.

Expansive beach and swimming pools? Check. Nightclub, bars, and restaurant? Check. Conference Center and business facilities? Of course. This resort will even have an equestrian center.
