Where the Celebrities Stay: The A-List of Luxury Hotels

December 2, 2009
By: Mary Winston Nicklin

Las VentanasCurious about where celebs like J-Lo, Brad and Angelina, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and Fergie jet in the winter months? Travel + Leisure spills the beans in an article in the December 2009 issue:

If you're Jennifer Lopez (the ninth-richest woman in entertainment with a net worth of $110 million), you have a $350 million fragrance and fashion empire, and your husband just bought ownership in the Miami Dolphins, where do you spend your winter vacations? Answer: Anywhere you damn well please, of course. But for JLo, "winter getaway" has sometimes meant heading to the Mexican resort Las Ventanas, in Los Cabos.

Also on the list for winter hideaways: The Little Nell in Aspen (just as much privacy as Las Ventanas), Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos (where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got hitched), Fairmont Chateau Whistler (where Seal proposed to Heidi Klum in an igloo on top of a glacier), Copacabana Palace in Rio (TomKat's a fan), and The Setai in Miami (the penthouse is a favorite of Madonna's).

Four Seasons Beirut: Hot Hotel Openings of the Year

October 21, 2009
By: Mary Winston Nicklin

Four Seasons BeirutThe cool Lebanese capital is getting another luxury hotel addition. (We've been excitedly anticipating the opening of Le Gray, from the hotelier behind London's One Aldwych and Carlisle Bay in Antigua). The other hotel that's crossed our radar? Four Seasons Beirut which is slated to open in December 2009. HotelChatter says that "all you Four Seasons loyalists out there... will have a new reason to visit Beirut." The city's known for its vibrant social scene and Four Seasons is planning to attract the crowds to a sky-high, "see-and-be-seen" rooftop pool lounge. Soaring above Beirut's Corniche, the glass-and-steel landmark building has views of the Mediterranean from private terraces adorning each and every room. Noted designer Pierre-Yves Rochon created the French-inspired interiors, showcasing polished maple, bronzed wallpaper and chinoiserie lamps. With a prime location in "the Paris of the Middle East," the Mediterranean gateway that links Europe to the Middle East, Four Seasons Beirut will feature a full-service spa, meeting and event spaces (including a grand ballroom), and two restaurants and three bars.
