Tolarno Hotel Melbourne
The phrase "if only the walls could speak" has never been used in a more appropriate circumstance than when delving into the colourful history of St Kilda’s infamous Tolarno building. The hallway and room walls are highlighted by original local artwork reminiscent of the days when it was owned and operated by renowned artist, Mirka Mora and her husband George, who lived and operated The Tolarno Gallery from this building.

Today the hotel awards art prizes to the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), Monash University and Royal Melbourne Institute of Tafe (RMIT) and the yearly winners are exhibited in the hotel foyer. Many of the paintings in the rooms have been purchased from the students and the balance from local artists.

Set in the heart of St Kilda's cafe, bar and club precinct, the hotel is a short stroll to the beach, Acland Street galleries and the Sunday Esplanade Market. Right outside the hotel are trams offering direct access to Melbourne's CBD, the Casino, Southbank, National Gallery and Royal Botanic Gardens.

Tolarno's restaurant (Mirka at Tolarno Hotel) was officially opened on the 21st of February 2007 by Guy Grossi. Whether you are staying for business or pleasure you will be taken by Tolarno's modern day comforts and our informal and friendly service.
